The Necessary Evil

The Necessary Evil

A Poem by Pseudonym Mindless
"

A small poem inspired by the song "Broken Bones" by Kaleo.

"

Once I knew a great man.

No one could see his great nobility for it was

hidden behind obsidian eyes.

I would watch as he rode in upon his great steed of night.

He is a stranger to all. I call him friend.

In his presence, they would weep in fear,

cry out like beggars, wishing for more borrowed time.

Another stranger would he take away from a stranger land,

and bring them forth to something else or nothing at all.

Some pray to him, but he is no god.

Some pray to the gods, but he is

The Necessary Evil-

A man bound by his duty, preforming an ugly job.

His payment is immortality, but his

punishment is living death every day, and

living the hatred of the strangers who cry at him.

Death, my old friend, how I pity you.

Pseudonym Mindless
I was going to make this a longer poem, but I lost my inspiration towards the end, and also did not know how to extend it further without losing the focus on the most important aspect of the poem. I may edit it later and add some more to it, or I may not. It seems to be alright at its current length, but who knows? "Alright" is generally not good enough for me so...

Anyways, I would greatly appreciate any criticism anyone would be willing to throw my way. If I get a review I'm always quick to respond with one of my own on your writing!!!
