The Necessary EvilA Poem by Pseudonym MindlessA small poem inspired by the song "Broken Bones" by Kaleo.Once I knew a great man. No one could see his great nobility for it was hidden behind obsidian eyes. I would watch as he rode in upon his great steed of night. He is a stranger to all. I call him friend. In his presence, they would weep in fear, cry out like beggars, wishing for more borrowed time. Another stranger would he take away from a stranger land, and bring them forth to something else or nothing at all. Some pray to him, but he is no god. Some pray to the gods, but he is The Necessary Evil- A man bound by his duty, preforming an ugly job. His payment is immortality, but his punishment is living death every day, and living the hatred of the strangers who cry at him. Death, my old friend, how I pity you. © 2016 Pseudonym MindlessAuthor's Note
