Stereo hypocrisy

Stereo hypocrisy

A Poem by Ama May Cooper
"

I find it infuriating and insulting that an adult deems all younger to be of some negative or some amazingly positive creation, failing to see that all humans have flaws, and all are not like one.

"
So im baby
an infant
my eyes dont fully focus
i yell and scream
attention pleading
my feet dont touch the ground
smothered , carried
arm to arm
cooed , doused in affection
the cute commander
of a family flock
squidy round the edges
gentle loving
deemed selfless
learning colors
stretching smiles
a beauty to a mother
So im a toddler
getting louder
running back and forth
eyes on me all hours
my fingers crawl explore
destroy
my voice demands the power
obnoxious, funny
still quite cute
a little terror
on the loose
my feet now move
one past the other
walking , running, tripping
tearful moments
screaming fits
shaping out a person
So im child
a terror
an individual
a brimming spirit
touching all
exploring the world
my mouth is open
spewing words
constantly learning
from ABC's
to 123's
a genius in my belief
im never wrong
im always right
stubborn
and standing upright
developing ever so fast
So im a teenager
a youth
one who owns small knowledge
who shouts
complains
and runs around
who disregards
offends and insults
with little care for all around
My knuckles burst with human blood
load nights and disobidence
alchol
drugs
bodily abuse
a nuisance
a menance to society
a problem with no solution
and then it all changes
it all becomes acceptable
we become adults
the stereo-types fade away
now that where at that age
where they would have to say
Adults..
but they wouldn't
would they
of course not
cause they
they after all are adults
the flawless human kind
who do no wrong
and so wrongly judge all below there eye-line
Im a teenager
I am not a criminal

wow. powerful ending. I have to admit the reason I started reading this poem was because the title caught my eye, and up to this point I dont regret it. It's a very passionate and creative look on the point of view of adults. I think it's positively swell.
