Pre-examination

Pre-examination

A Story by Ama May Cooper
"

Zoe is a very bright young girl who gets very worried about exams, she's also my best friend and i based a piece of work on her before her medical exam.

"

Zoe lay on her bed watching the light flicker across the ceiling. The curtains flapping gently in the wind. It had been a hard and long day filled with revision note after revision note and she was beginning to grow tired.

The rain gently pattered on the roof above her head, soothing her slightly and lulling her in and out of a gentle sleep. The pencil in her hand slipping further and further toward the bed sheets.

She sat up slowly, sighing deeply and glanced at the disarray of text books and medical breakthroughs splayed around her room. "Tommorrow." Gently she slid to the end of the bed and stood, streaching as if waking from some long and peaceful sleep and crossed to the window.

She stood there for a while watchign the rain charge down upon the world. Splashing energetically off the side walk and trickling down the drains of the street. It had been a really nice day earlier the sun had kept her warm as she walked up her road from college.

Her mind wondered back to her books, back to the dreaded day and her heart skipped slightly in fear. Tommorrow she would have to take an interview to get into the university she dreamed of. A university to set her on her merry way to medicine which she'd dreaed of for quite some time now , but as the time drew nearer her nerves buckled inside and sa strange sickening fear shook thorugh her soul.

Her friends of course had reassured her, and encouraged her, but never the less the feeling still remained and as the clock ticked eight the lack of even a full day to ge tprepared hit her suddenly.

"Zoe?" Her mother called , seemingly from a very fay place

"Zoe??... Hello???" again

"Yes" She replied drawn from her daydreams

"Dinner, come get it"

Following her mums orders she left the window, and made her way toward the kitchen. Her heart somewhat heavy with fear bu a light spring to her step.

Well imagined... the girl's fears and anxieties are drawn out with striking insight and detail like the pencil and the rain give it a special reality. A well-composed piece... well done
