so little time

This was written about a very close friend of mine.. who leaves for the marines in less time than a month, and as the second ticks by ...i had to write something, to get it off my chest

We've had our times

you and me 

together and apart

We've walked in sunsets

laid in rain 

and you've broken my heart

But thru it all we have stayed strong

Our friendship torn quite a few times

but returned to each others splendors

And now im faced with a truth 

a ticking time bomb imploding

time runs short for you and me

And even tho ill stand here waiting

cheak the mail for your soft words

5 years ill never hold your hand and whisper in your ear

my dear i think its clear to all

that i will miss you greatly

and if , i do say if you return i will greet you warmly

Im so afraid that this is it

our last and final goodbye

soon to hear that you have died

A bullet sunk into your heart

a shot wound thru the leg

mabye even a tank driven over your head

But after all this is your dream

i must have faith i must belive

that when the years have counted down you will return 

But so little time remains

for me to spend beside you

before you walk away in arms

I trust you with all my heart

with dreams that you have long since torn apart

so please never let me down

Please return without so much as a frown

I'm not sure whether this love is in ruins or a solid building... but the awkward rhythms well convey the dislocated emotions that flow through your imagination...
