the commercial christmas trickA Poem by Ama May CooperJust a little poem for xmas, considering it as after all tat time of year
i stand beaneath the christmas tree
my eyes lit up with glee gently shaking, listning guessing at all that is there for me i stroke the boxes, squeeze the soft imagine toys and tricks concealed by bright coloured paper One minute left till i can tear rip and shred apart till all these little boxes are revealed to my heart I watch the clock the way the hand seems endlessly to roll each second ticking slower Anticipation brims in me I titter on my toes I shiver and then i scream as 00:00 rolls on First for the little ones, or big ones or square ones or mabye the ones from distant relatives Descions after descions close my eyes and pick and then it begins the commercial christmas trick
