sleep never comes

My headphones projecting vibrations into my ears

My fingers panning repetitive keystrokes

The cats whiskers twitch gently as they sleep 

but for me sleep will never come

 

My mother endlessly moans about a lover long lost

The night falls darker upon blind eyes

Silent animals of the night scamper around the fleeting light

but for me.. never.. sleep never comes

This is a beautiful but sad poem. I loved it. I couldn't help but hear music as i read.
It would make a great song. The emotions are pure and genuine. It made me want sleep for you quite badly. I was totally wrapped up in this one. That's quite hard to do with a writing of this size. kudos

simply great job. i really liked the original, in time metaphors that speak a
unique position in time, your words define sleep never comes, the animal scurrying in the night, the mother whose lover is ever long gone, headphones blasting fvorite tunes. i asm sure millions can relate. in one way or another, excellent rendering
