Cupids poison

Cupids poison

A Poem by Ama May Cooper
"

Love is much alike a poision.. but perhaps without such grim refair

"

sweet cupid you have forsaken me

struck your bow deep in my heart

but left the other unwounded

sweet cupid you have forsaken me

to watch his smile from afar

and dream of nothing more than idle fantasies

sweet cupid you have forsaken me

to forever long for his hand upon mine

a gentle touch from his godly frame

sweet cupid you have stolen me

into his arms and among his fancy

deep in teh eye line of a burning love

sweet cupid you have stolen me

into his heart for a while atleast

for me to bask in his angelic being

sweet cupid you have wounded me

torn me away from that love i had

and left me crying in the cold

sweet cupid you have wounded me

my heart cries out for his soft touch

bleeding pools upon the floor

Sweet cupid you have poisoned me

and him my only cure

still offers hands to mine

sweet cupid you have poisoned me

forever will i suffer

a friend he be, but i long for what was once

sweet cupid you have poisoned me

his soul is dug so deep

his smile still makes me smile you see

sweet cupid you have killed me

my heart lays in his hands

for him to play and poke for fun

sweet cupid you have forsaken me

to love him forever

sweet cupid you have stolen me

and put me in his hands

seet cupid you have wounded me

dripping pools of red

sweet cupid you have poisoned me

and  friendship not enough to cure

sweet cupid you have killed me

left me lieing on the floor

I really like the repetition and how it progresses from unrequited love from afar to the final shattering heart break. It is packed full of emotion. You did a great job with this one. Thanks for sharing it with us. It was a pleasure to read.

i love the way you repeat the phrase "sweet cupid" in your poem. very remarkable.

Now that's exactly what unrequited love feels like. You've captured it quite well in this poem.

A deep-felt cry of anguish... the repetition makes it like a haunting lament. Well done.
