Maintaing NormalityA Poem by Ama May CooperA human seed sent to learn from this society, Confused and distressed by senseless tyranny, Forever maintaining a false display of clarity, Struggling to find sanity in this illogical reality. Excuse me if I offend the sensitive ear, This isn't just me mouthing off to be unkind, My apologies if you in some way deem me to speak out of line, But they have silenced our kind for far to long a time. They keep me locked in my cage you see, But expect me to understand their restrained concepts of free, They practically chain my appendages to the wall, Hypocritically commanding me to be whatever I want to be. Took souls away from helpless babies, Substituted imagination for meaningless manipulation, Carelessly creating an aesthetically pleasing fabrication, Anything to benefit the structure of our immoral system. I never brought into the unnecessary playground hierarchy, Outcast for alternative perceptions of multiple personalities, A monster I am for my translation of this evident fantasy, Abhorred for an interest in more than empty fallacy. I look upon a world I cannot being to understand, Public faces funnelling ludicrous lies to open mouthed children, The brainwashed amble like sheep to the grinder, Stripped unknowingly of any any other option. © 2015 Ama May CooperReviews
