Driven to Distraction

Driven to Distraction

A Poem by Ama May Cooper

I am lost
lost in translation
lost in the wonders of a suppressed mind

It is cold here
On the edge of reality
Viewing the world from a distance

There is no hand to touch
Noone to hold me tight through the fears
I alone watch unafflicted by their affections

Drifting through a false reality
merely a fabricated entity
Drowning under the separation of misunderstood truths

There is agony in silence
In unspoken truths
Hot coals burn pressure through a tired soul

This world is a battle ground
A collection of the misguided spirits
The great waste that is the human race

A mission with no sight of success
A goal with no guarantee of profit
The ground force sent in for the slaughter

I retract all statements of faith in their progression
Time and time again there betrayal leaves a bitter ache
Each wound heals slower now

A dark spirit sworn to assist in a light ascension
Nothing binds me to the task
Let there disbelief corrupt the eagerness to assist

Laying waste to all that festers here
Burning it all to hapless embers
This world is already carnage in my eyes
