ill leave this world behind

ill leave this world behind

A Poem by Ama May Cooper

Take me away from here
Set me free from this world
Let it all vanish and slip from view

Im too tired to fight in this war
Just let me run away into the darkness
Let me melt and fade like an ice cube in the hot sun

The fragile attachment to this sordid place is fleeting
I have no desire to cling on
I want to be lost in the shadows of existence

I want to spread my wings and escape this place
The echos of suffering from a self destructive society
I am deafened and blinded by the arrogance of their self contempt

This body merely an unwelcome cage
A haunting reminder of all that is human
A race of collective navievity

I throw down my armour and lay down my weapons
On my knees I scream one last surrender
One final hope for a respectable goodbye

These wounds wont heal and I won't mend them
These nightmares that torment the sanity of my dreams
There is too much weight now placed on my shoulders

I dont want to exist here
I can't sum up the energy to act like I belong
Cast me out into the realm of endless night

Leave me be in my own simulated silence
Let me just close my eyes and scream until there is nothing left
Until the very agony in my heart is drowned out by my echo

I detest this world with a passion of stardust
I want to see it torched and burned within an inch of its life
There is no compassion that could save me from this rage

I am done for all its worth the spirits of my brain have won
I will dance in there poison, I will drink it with no fear
Anything. ...absolutely anything just take me away from here
