Opting for defeat

Opting for defeat

A Poem by Ama May Cooper

A self made solitude of lost hopes
doors slammed shut without the keyholes
no way in and no way out
Stuck in a falsely presented safety
Alone
Alone in the darkness
in the festering pits of a damaged mind
Hidden to eyes refusing to see
Buried in emotion
Screaming endlessly at the chorus of the wind
These hands fumble on the doubt
Walls bleeding merciless profanity's
Running
Running forever on a loop
Caught in the rip tide
Lost beneath the waves of regret
Consumed by phantom like villains
figments of a strained imagination
A raging war with only one soilder
Commissioned on expired dreams
Abandoned in the wasteland
Corrosive bullets birthed from a seething mind
The barrel turned inward
Thoughts like wildfires
Just a second to taste the air
Choking
Acidic words tumbling down a frozen throat
poisoned from within
An intentional contamination
A willing surrender

this is really well penned, sounds like a battle with self...and that is such a hard one to win.
