Chapter 2

A Chapter by Ama May Cooper

Soft. It was soft underneath him. Mr barns carefully opened one eye and peaked cautiously around the room. Pictures, a load of pleasant family scenes of beaches hung from the walls, attempting he was sure to give a uplifting feel to the icy confines of the room. Moving his hands along the sides of the soft item he had identified earlier he came to the conclusion that he was on a bed and judged that he was back in his room.

Frank glared at him from the other side of the room "Of course it's your room, You have fallen asleep and woken up in this room ever since you were 12 years old, how can you possibly wonder about such stupid things." He stood up in a great flourish of concentrated aggression picking up a jar and chucking it straight through the glass window.

"Frank stop it!" Mr Barns shouted dashing to the window in great haste."They'll be no more of that behavior this early in the morning, go to your room"
Frank looked down like a wounded puppy nursing his egotistical wounds, And trudged straight through the metal door with his tail between his legs.
Mr barn's sighed. That boy was a bad seed, needed a stern talking to and a stronger hand than his to guide him he thought to himself. He stepped forward as if to leave the room to be greeted by a strangely unexpected door, Mr barns stammered in confusion.

"Why is there a door here?...Did he shut the door. Why would he do that? How will I ever get out" Tears brimmed in his eyes, like a wounded child he began to weep. He suddenly felt abandoned, he didn't like being alone. This metal door a barrier that existed to only him and none of his many visitors. He reached forward and stroked the cold steel with the ends of his fingertips. So solid to him, so unpenetrable. He drew with his fingers, weaving invisible paint trails from the very pores , painting pictures of childish smiley faces, over and over again. Slowly the faces began to distort there once happy faces becoming angry and malicious. Laughing at Mr. Barns in his unfortunate situation.

He found himself becoming terrified, and backed away from the door. "I just wanted to get out" He shouted.
He shook his head, and denied himself his own reality. "I wont listen , i wont see any of you" He stood firm and puffed his chest out. They would not break him, Frank would not torment him into a breakdown. Not again.
