Re-living Obsession

Re-living Obsession

A Poem by Ama May Cooper

Caught in the images tracing metaphorical lines
Trespassing on the flames of wars already past
Ignited by the embers of fallen thoughts
Fighting back is futile engulfed by the mighty roar
Dancing on poisonous memories
Swallowing venomous words
Chocking on the acrid desperation
Just as addicted to the thrill
Grown weary of holding off the voices
Almost eagerly pleading for the fall
Tumbling with no arms out stretched
Accepting the obsession burning its way through my soul
Comforted by the sick, tainted, satisfaction it breeds
Caught in the memories of twisted thoughts
Forever haunted by this hunt for perfection.
