A leopard never changes his spots

A leopard never changes his spots

A Poem by Ama May Cooper

Couldn't do it could you?
Leave your dirty ways behind?
Pleading for forgiveness each and every time.

Once a thief always a thief
We should have learnt last time
Your testimony based on dirty hallow lies

Couldn't break the habit
Addicted to the crime
A shoddy little trickster each and every time.

Screaming out for a fair trial
Denying all the signs
A wolf all cloaked in a pretty sheep's disguise

Couldn't live an honest life?
Couldn't just mean those tainted words?
Im sorry ill never do it again each and every time.

Caught red handed
Denying any knowledge
A crafty little shadow sneaking around unseen

Couldn't be a good little boy?
Couldn't just stick to your words
Always expecting to escape scot free each and every time
