Society's silence

Society's silence

A Poem by Ama May Cooper

Bound by invisible rules and regulations
Implemented by an oblivious society
A desperation to feel at home within a distorted reality

Unspoken rules and un-promised promises
A false declaration of freedom
Laws littered with the cruelest of conspiracy's

Society built upon corruption
A million hidden lies
on greedy anxious lips

A life of right and wrong
A path that all must follow
Instructions none agreed to

How to live
to exist
to think

Bound unaware
Society's grip an acrid flame
Leading the sheep

Consuming minions
Mindless soldiers
Captivated without a fight

Blinded by politeness
Political correctness
Silenced by the fear of ostracism

An army that gave away there voices
That sacrificed there thoughts
To bend to the expected norms
