Witnessing the Remains

Witnessing the Remains

A Poem by Ama May Cooper

Shedding a rotten vessel
infected to the core
desperately searching for some salvation
purged from within the confides of life
Let loose upon the realms of the plains
Dancing above a lifeless corpse
Anchored within a new jail
Escaped a cruel existence
Stumbled blindly through the void
Haunting the destroyed remains
The tears of those that cared
Stuck to watch in loop
The devastation that they'd caused
Ghastly fingers comb the walls
Long after there act discovered
A mother grasps the child she loved
Witnessed through un reaching eyes
Skipped through the exit signs
Quick to plunge the blade
Running from the darkness in there mind
Embarrassing the light
In hope of a softer realm
Stricken faces of loved ones
Trapped within the house
A spirit cursed for fleeing
Puzzled questions , Unanswered fears
Witnessing the self blame
Watching through a shimmering veil
No escape left to run through
No paths to  a different dimension
The blade had led them stuck between
Reality unfinished with there tainted souls
It held them, tied them down
Ghosts that wanted out
Lingering spirits witnessing there own remains
