The Delights of A Dellusion

The Delights of A Dellusion

A Poem by Ama May Cooper

Drowning my sorrows
in an already empty bottle
tears of hollow emptiness
streaming from my eyes
Distorting reality to find sanity
Burying the pain below the ground
Leaving it behind in a cold real world
Running from the problems I can't face
Playing a weird game with shadows
Ducking and Diving from invisible enemies
Snorting lines of powdered distance
Saturating the brain in foreign bodies
Floating high above the clouds
The stench of reality below me
Pleading never to return to it
To stay forever in a substance roller coaster
Destroying myself for some great salvation
Corrupting the temple
Choking the mind of logical thought
Enjoying the endless fantasy
Fabricated words of affection
Hallucinated images of happiness
A purposefully forced delusion
Locked inside the color streams of brain decay
