The Perpetual Junior

The Perpetual Junior explores the love of constant learning and the fear of settling, questioning whether endless new beginnings are growth or avoidance.

The senior title, earned with sweat,

Becomes a cage, a golden net.

I reach the peak, I see the view,

Then turn away, to start anew.

A junior once more, I gladly claim,

A different field, a different game.

The thrill of learning, fresh and bright,

Ignites my soul, with pure delight.

I love to explore, to seek, to find,

New pathways for, my restless mind.

To shed the skin, of what I've known,

And venture forth, completely alone.

Or so it seems.

But whispers rise, a questioning voice,

"Is this a pattern, or a choice?

Are you just running, from the top?

Afraid to stay, afraid to stop?"

The comfort zone, a stifling place,

I crave the challenge, the unknown space.

But is this wisdom, or is it fear,

That keeps me moving, year by year?

A senior's knowledge, cast aside,

For novice joys, where dreams reside.

Is this the way, I'm meant to be?

A perpetual student, wild and free?

Or am I lost, in endless quest,

Avoiding mastery, avoiding rest?

A fear of settling, holding tight,

To fleeting freedom, burning bright?

And burning out?

I crave the new, the unexplored,

But wonder if, I'm truly bored,

Or simply scared, to reach the end,

And find that comfort, is a friend,

I shouldn't shun.

This constant cycle, start and start,

A restless mind, a searching heart.

Is this my path, my destined way?

Or am I lost, in endless play?

The question lingers. The answer... unknown.

Am I a junior... forever shown?

Or is there growth... in letting go?

I truly... need, and want, to know.
