Chapter 1: The Burning PastA Chapter by she who must not be namedThis is a little bit of her past, there's more later.I do not want to remember my past. It scares me, but it won't leave. I slept, and my past came to haunt me.
"Reverna! Nighning! Go, run! Go to the stream! I'll meet you there!" yelled my father. "Father..." "Margenic! No! You must come! Margenic!" screamed my mother throught the smoky air, which was getting thicker very second. "No! I must extingusish the fire! Don't worry! I will be fine!" and he left, towards the incresingly hotter fire. My mother ran after him. "Mother! Come back!" I sobbed even though I was completely capable of going to the stream. She just kept running, and as it got hotter and hotter, I knew I had to go. When I got there, I saw children, and others uncapable of helping to put out the fire. I craned my neck to look for my friend, Firenada, and when I did, I rushed to her and we stood staring at the inferno, silently, as we waited for our parents to return. After what seemed like centuries, people started coming back, and there were the sbooing of the happy, and sobbing of the sad. I saw Firenada's parents, and Firenada rushed to them relieved. I waited, then asked, "Where are my--" I stopped, when I saw their joyful faces turn sober. I just collasped and started crying on the floor. I felt a light touch on my shoulder and I looked up. Firenada's father started speaking. "Your patents went into a building where they heard crying. The whole building was about to collapse, and was on fire. They went in, and as they were coming out, it collasped on them, and whoever was with them, was too. "Before they went in, they told me to give you these, if -- well, you know. Your father gave you his enchanted lockpicks, and your mother gave you her locket," he handed me the gifts and I held them, and started bailing. When I finished, I looked up. "Thank you," I whispered, shakedly. I slipped the lockpicks onto the chain of the locket, and put it on my neck. I fumbled with the clasp, so Firenada helped. When it was done, I opened the locket, to find the pictures, painted with magic, that my mother had shown me, so many times. On the right had side, were my parents, and on the left, was a baby picture of me. "Why are you back? The fire isn't out yet!" Firenada said. "It's magical fire. This was no accident. Somebody set this fire on us. We must leave!" her mother answered. At that moment, someone screamed, and everyone turned to look at a flag, coming closer and closer. It looked like this:
