NOCTURNAL PIECES

NOCTURNAL PIECES

NOCTURNAL PIECES

While I sat writing my thoughts in a hard-bound journal,
a family of fox gathered, all ears pricked cautiously
as we listened to lullabies sung by those deemed nocturnal.

Coyote songs danced gayly upon the wind in anticipation of Fall.
The chatter mingled with the rustle of leaves in an infinite tussle
to tumble, inevitably, downwards to reach their final port of call.

"We hear on the news how our planet is decomposing.
Mother Nature has explained with fury, we are imposing."

To think one day I may never be able to again sit with brother fox
and enjoy nocturnal 'pieces', for we've opened Pandora's box.

A delightful view of nature and being out in it. But (there's always a but) the ominous warning at the end. I sometimes believe this too, Pandora's box has been opened and we'll feel the effects, if not this generation the next surly will. I enjoyed your poem.

Enjoy nature while we can. It is a shame that so much is happening to destroy it with housing and other building expanding all the time. I'd love to sit and watch foxes. I'd love to be able to sit and enjoying howling coyotes and wolves. I'd love to just be able to sit and enjoy the wildness around me. Great poem you have here!

This is a very beautiful nature scene but as always, things of beauty always end up being destroyed. Awesome poem!

A delightful poem. Just to sit back and enjoy nature. And I think nature will be around for quite awhile still. This is really excellent writing.
