Book Four: To Be Continued

Avatar: The Last Airbender fanfiction!!<3

Setting: Palace courtyard where our heroes are on a picnic for no apparent reason. Children are running around happily while being watched by their parents. It seems to be a little before noon. The sky is a vibrant blue with a few puffy clouds lazily rolling across it.

Everybody is eating slowly except sokka, who is cramming everything in his mouth at once.

Now: Sokka: mmmm, mmmm, mmmm!   

Katara: can’t you eat normally for once?   

Sokka: I am eating normally; it’s you people who are eating at the speed of a snailsloth.  

Katara: grrr…  

toph: hey, just shut up and eat! Anyway, can somebody tell me where the fire flakes are?  

Aang: Everyone, just calm down…    

zuko: (frustrated) *sigh*…  

momo: (steals a pear)  

Sokka: hey, I just realized that Hawky never came back!!!   

Toph: who cares?!

suki: (sweats) It’s so boring now that we have nothing to do.  

Aang: zuko, do you have any ideas for fun stuff to do?  

Zuko: uuumm… no, why would you think that? 

Toph: (whispers) You’re lying!!!  

Katara: yeah zuko; why are you being all defensive?  

Zuko: actually, after the coronation I went to see my father.

 

(Commercial break)

 

Suki: you did, why?

(Sokka cuts her off)  

Sokka: are you crazy?!  

Zuko: I was asking him where my mother is.  

suki: why, what happened to her?  

Aang: it’s up to zuko if he wants to tell us. No pressure, zuko.  

Zuko: *sigh* when I went to see him in prison, all he told me was that she went to a place where I’d least expect to find her.  

Katara: let’s start our search in ba sing se. you can see your uncle again, too.  

Toph: not that horrible place!!!  

Zuko: it would be nice to see my uncle again…  

sokka: don’t worry, toph. I bet we can do anything since we will be with the firelord and the avatar!!!  

Zuko: no, we can’t let anyone know who we are. My father isn’t the only evil man out there. We will need to be disguised and leave the palace before anybody finds out.  

Suki: does that mean we don’t get to bring any of your servants or guards? 

Zuko: No. my mother would find out that we are coming. she will hide somewhere else, maybe on the other side of the world!  

Aang: you’re right, zuko; how about we leave tomorrow night?  

Katara: yeah, then we will have enough time to get ready and have a good night sleep.  

Sokka: aang, are you going to finish that, juicy, tender, meaty turkey leg?  

Aang: I wasn’t planning on eating it at all…  

Suki: see you later guys.  

Toph: (toph blindness gag)

 

(Commercial break)

  

zuko: (sees mai) um… I gotta go…  

(10 minutes later zuko and mai are on a walk through the gardens)  

Mai: where were you?! I’ve been waiting here for half an hour!  

Zuko: sorry, about that. I was having a picnic with my friends…  

Mai: 3 of those friends are girls!!!   

Zuko: don’t worry. There is nothing going on with any of those girls and me. 

Mai: sure, that’s what they all say before they dump their girlfriend.   

Zuko: no, you don’t understand. It’s not like that at all…  

Mai: (speeds ahead)  

zuko: (catches up with her) relax, I’m not breaking up with you.  

Mai: (whispers) yet… (sees a cute guy who looks a little familiar)  

zuko: who are you looking at?!  

Mai: (stutters) uhh… n-nobody, what d-do you mean?  

Zuko: forget it. Maybe I’ll see you around. (walks away)  

mai: whatever.  (the next day)

Zuko: katara, I’m all ready for tonight… 

Katara: do you have enough money?  

Zuko: I think so, it depends on what we will buy.  

Mai: (overhearing the conversation between zuko and katara) huh? (thinks that they’re talking about going on a date) I knew it.    (after she leaves) katara: Great, now all I need to do is see if Aang, sokka, toph, and suki are ready for the journey to Ba Sing Se.  

zuko: there’s someone else I wanted to bring too who might be able to help us.   

Katara: (in a singsong voice) who, mai?   

Zuko: no. but you have met her twice- once as a friend and once as an enemy.   

Katara: ohh-kay…   (katara talks to aang)  

aang: hey katara. Oh, and everything is ready for our flight to Ba Sing Se.   

katara: great, I can’t wait!!! It’s going to be fun, and weird to be riding appa again…  

aang: yeah, but it will be good for him to get some flying in too.

Katara: well, I have to go see toph, sokka, and suki too, so see you soon... (Katara walks towards sokka’s room and begins to talks to him) hey are you-uuu, what are you doing???  

Sokka: oh, um, I was, I was, um, shaving…  

katara: ohh-kay…, anyway, are you ready for tonight?  

Sokka: yeah, of course…  

katara: you didn’t even start packing did you?  

Sokka: *sigh*, no…  

katara: well, start!!! We are leaving tonight you know(pulse mark +)… (katara walks over to toph’s room)   

suki: Katara, hi, we were just checking that we have everything packed and ready for our trip.

Katara: So I will see you guys at the courtyard in 20 minutes.

Toph: whatever, we’ll be there.   

Katara: great, see you soon!!!   (katara walks around telling sokka, aang, and zuko to meet in the courtyard in 20 minutes)  

(25 minutes later)

zuko: everybody is here, right?  

Suki: wait!!! Where is Sokka?

 

(Commercial break)

  

Katara: well, sokka didn’t start packing when I saw him…  

sokka: (breathing heavily) Am I, am I too late?

Zuko: Sokka, where were you??? You could have ruined the whole trip!!!   

Sokka: sorry, I was playing with boomerang and looked up at the clock and saw that it was past time to go meet you guys in the courtyard…  

Aang: GUYS!!! He is here now so lets get going if we don’t want to get caught!!!  

Katara: aang’s right, if we want to get to Ba sing se by morning we should probably get moving.  

zuko: (as they get on appa, zuko says…)  uuummm… aang can I Fly appa???   

aang: why do you want to?  

Zuko: Because I need to pick someone up on the way who could help us.  

Aang: ohh-kay…  

zuko: thanks! (reaches into his bag and pulls out a brush, right before they fly over a seedy tavern)  

Suki: what’s that Zuko?  

Katara: yeah, and why are we slowing down?  

Zuko: (as they are flying over a seedy tavern he says…) June…  June, she’ll help us find my mother with her hairbrush…  

everybody (except zuko): ohhhhh…   (They are slowly landing…)  

zuko: I won’t be long; you can come along, if you want.

June: look who it is! Mister honorless.   

zuko: june,

june: so, where’s your creepy grandpa?   

Zuko: he’s my uncle and he’s in ba sing se *sigh* making tea… anyway, we need you’re help finding someone… someone very important.

 

(Commercial Break)

 

June: I’m not convinced.  

Zuko: (in a very frustrated voice) we need you more than anyone here and know you have what it takes to help us.  

June: ooh, that’s interesting… what’s in it for me?  

Zuko: it will provide you with a large amount of money.  

June: hmmm…o.k, I’m in. (whispers) I’ll be rich!!!  

Zuko: come out front and I will give you a scent.

June: (as she walks out she says…) boys, when I get back I’m going to buy us drinks and a whole lot of them! (people cheer)  

Zuko: come on!!!  

June: o.k, who’s got this person’s… wait, who are we searching for?  

Zuko: *Sigh* my mother (sweat mark)…  

june: (giggle giggle) so… what has her scent on it?  

Katara: zuko has her hairbrush. Will that work?  

June: it should. (nyla circles a few times)  

zuko: what does that mean?  

June: erm, it means, it means she doesn’t exist.  

Everyone: hhhuuuhhh???  

June: what?  

Zuko: she has to exist… my father said “she went to a place where I’d least expect to find her”  

suki: so, katara suggested we start our  search in ba sing se. Then zuko brought you up saying you could help find his mom, ursa.  

June: well, that’s a real head scratcher… so, now that I helped you where’s my bag full of riches?!  

zuko: Not yet, you need to be a little more helpful than that to get the full bag. So, We could use you’re help on our journey.  

June: why? Why shouldn’t I just take the money that I have now and leave?   

Zuko: Let’s just say if you don’t help us, you will wish you never met me.  

June: (scared face) errr…  well, lets get going if we want to make it by sunrise.   

Toph: I’m going with june!!!  

June: why?  

Toph: I’m a blind (waves hand in front of her face) earthbender. I prefer staying close to the ground.  

Aang: appa has never bothered you before…  

toph: I’ve never had a choice before!  

june: sorry sweetie, nyla isn’t meant for kids.  

Toph: (pouts) no fair! 

 

(Commercial break)

 

Katara: toph, do you want to ride with us?  

Toph: no thanks, I’ll run.  

Sokka: to ba sing se!!! team avatar is back and ready for action!!!  

Katara: sokka’s right we should probably get a move on it.    (they fly near an entrance to ba sing se but don’t go in the city)  

zuko: have nyla smell this.  

June: a shoe? Whatever…  

nyla: (sniffs around and zooms into the city)

June: nyla is getting twitchy, so he can’t be far. But, nyla also seems sleepier too.   

Suki: so are appa and momo, let’s rest here and get a good, new start in the morning.  

Everyone: (yawns) sure, whatever…   (the next day) 

zuko: (he awakes to aang feeding appa and momo…) aang, is that you?  

Aang: (races over) yeah… I was just scratching and feeding momo and appa…  

zuko: oh…   (everyone wakes up a little bit later)  

katara: anyone want to come with me to get food and supplies? 

Everyone (except katara): (groans)   

katara: aang, how about you? Would you like to come with me?  

Aang: sure…   (after they got back, they find their camp in ruins)  

katara: w-what happened?! (Still in shock)

 

(Commercial break)

  

toph: I felt some vibrations in the ground that didn’t seem good, so I went with sokka and taught them a lesson (punches her fist into her hand):)!   Sokka: then, they followed us to camp and stole some of our supplies :(…  

suki: so, toph caught them with our stuff and she surprised them by throwing a rock at their heads and it knocked them out, then stole back our stuff.  

Sokka: then I put them on appa and flew them to the nearest town…  

aang: wow!!! That is quite an adventure!  

Toph: ha, ha, ha! we sure got you guys good, twinkle toes!!!  

Katara: (rolls her eyes) toph, did you mess up the camp just to play a prank on us?  

Toph: ohhh yeah!  

Katara: ha. Ha. Very funny…  

june: shouldn’t we get a move on it?!   

Zuko: she’s right, we should get at least into the city today.  

Sokka: let’s go (they get on appa-even toph, june gets on nyla) look! Theres the city!!! (they fly over the “great wall” and go into the city)  

Suki: Shouldn’t we get some disguises first? I left my kyoshi warrior outfit at the palace, but, wouldn’t somebody recognize us?  

June: finally… we get to spend some of princey’s money!!!  

Sokka: You mean, Firelord!!!

  June: what???!!!  

Zuko: yeah, you better start listening to me or else I’ll throw you in jail!!!  

June: (gritting her teeth) sorry your highness. 

 Aang: hey, zuko, who took charge for you when we left the fire nation?   

Zuko: um,… I don’t really know…   

katara: hopefully not azula.

Momo: (cowers at the sound of azula’s name)  

toph: stop worrying. Azula is too crazy to be firelord.  

Zuko: maybe, but she can become herself any day now, so we should just hope that she is still crazy.  

 

(Commercial break)

 

June: hello… disguises!  

katara: right, we should spend less time worrying and more time thinking about disguises.  

Toph: hey, I just remembered something, when we went to see the horrible play about ourselves,  

Everyone  (except toph, and june): (groan)   

toph: anyway, I snagged their make-up kit!!!  

Sokka: toph, you’re a genius!  

Toph: I know… about what?   

Sokka: about getting the make-up kit, we can use it for our disguises!!!  

Suki: great, I can put the make-up on everyone, since I normally put on my kyoshi warrior make-up.  

Katara: yeah!!!  

Toph: I’ll get it, its…   

aang: no toph, I’ll get it, I don’t want you accidentally crushing the stuff.  

Toph: fine, (whispers) twinkle toes!   

June: (giggle, giggle)  

aang: what’s so funny?!  

june: twinkle toes…  

sokka: (slaps forehead)   (suki covers up zuko’s scar, aang’s arrow, and suki draws zuko’s other eyebrow back on, katara takes off her mom’s necklace, suki puts a little bit of make-up on herself and toph has suki put on a little blush, and eye shadow.)  

sokka: (in a manly voice)  all right, lets continue  our flying to the city.   

Katara: a cute girl?  

Sokka: no…  

suki: (clears her throat)  

sokka: I mean, yes. Right here…

(Kisses suki on the cheek)  

Katara: (leans in closer to sokka and whispers…) nice call…   (Outside the city wall)

 

(Commercial break)

 

june: okay, so where will we leave appa and nyla?  

aang: what about that conveniently located empty giant barn over there?   

Katara: perfect! I wonder if it has any  food for them too…  

toph: yup! There’s a bunch of hay for appa.  

Katara: what does nyla eat?  

June: meat, but I don’t think there will be any sitting around here like the hay. It’s almost as though somebody knew you guys would come here.  

Suki: (sarcastically) yeah, I really think somebody would know we were coming.   

June: no, really… (walks into barn and kicks some hay over) wait a sec…  

zuko: (starts walking to the barn door) what? What is it?    

June: (screams surprisingly loudly and is pulled up by a net, but nobody sees)   

zuko & katara: (run inside) june!!! Where are you?!

June: I’m up here!!!

Katara: Where?

June: Look up, you nitwit!!! And help me get down!!!

Katara: (whispers under breath) harsh…

Toph, Suki, and Katara: (start whispering)

Zuko: hang on! I’m coming.

June: ‘bout time…

(After they exit the barn)

aang: Is everyone alright?

Zuko: yeah…

(june brushes dust off her)

sokka: well,… I made a campfire, lets go back and get warmed up (says in a cheery voice).

(as they were sitting around the campfire)

(june shiver because cold even with the fire)

(zuko slowly puts his arm around her. She lets him)

(Katara gets up to get ready for bed and sees appa eating a tent! Thinking it’s hay.)

Katara: Appa!!!

June: Ugh!!!

Suki: What?

June: that’s my tent… now where will I sleep?

(everyone’s silent and then zuko stands up)

zuko: You, could sleep in my tent, ya know, with me? My tent is- the biggest…

June: anyone else??? (silence) okay, you’ll have to do…

(as she leaves a small smile spreads across her face)

(in the morning zuko wakes up first and turns over and says good morning june. (silence) (opens one eye, then opens the other)

zuko: June!, June! Where are you?

(everyone comes out of their tent)

aang: Zuko, what is it?

Zuko: It’s June, she’s gone!!!

(after 1 hr. everyone is really tired, except zuko)

zuko: We have to keep looking, we have to find her!!!

Toph: Why are you so worried about her?

Katara: yeah, it almost seems like you’re in… in love (in a sing-songy voice)

Zuko: I do care; she’s our only hope to find my mom!!!

Sokka: hmmph! (Offended)

Katara: ohh-kayy

Aang: I’m with zuko; she can really help us find ursa.

(While they’re talking, the camera turns to where June is… she’s in the middle of a conversation)

June: I don’t want to hurt him; I’m growing on him. And I think he likes me back…

(The person she’s talking to has the shadow over her face)

Unknown person: well, it’s up to you do you really want to do this?

June: no, I really don’t!

Unknown person: oh well! If you want you’re riches you’ll have to do the job! Let me repeat it one more time: you need to earn his trust. Act all lovey-dovey and then bring him to a cliff and start making out with him, then make sure he’s on the cliff side, then deliver the final blow push him off!!!

June: (speechless) bu… bu..

(Unknown person steps out of the shadows, it’s azula)

(Commercial break)

(As team avatar are talking, June scruffs herself up, puts leaves in her hair, takes mud and rubs in different spots)

June: (cough, cough)

Suki: (hears things in the bushes and walks over) Come out whoever you are!!! (june comes out)

Everyone (except june): (gasps)
