Chicago's grace.

Chicago's grace.

A Poem by Candylove.
"

well... it's simple.

"
I think I'll go to Chicago
for the Winter,
to feel my bones break.

We can roam
the city streets,
with ice in our veins.
But the freeze wouldn't last
with you by my side.

January: your birthday
the dead heat of Winter.
I'd clash with the falling snow,
my boots wet and cold.

I think I'll go to Chicago
for the Winter.
To feel the chill at the base of my spine.
I want to witness your warmth illuminated
by the night.

Our bodies grow numb,
clouds quiver past the moon.
We are creatures of the night,
where the wind is crippling cold.
And you are too beautiful for words.

We retreat
to the arctic darkness of your room.
You said, I'd freeze
but the cold remains disarming, as do you.
These nights will swallow us whole.

I'm going to Chicago
for the Winter,
to feel my bones break.
For my heart beats anew.

You gave me a chill....In a good way.
This was the magical winter land of
my dreams.

I love this. I can tell there's some kind of subtle rhyme scheme going on, but can't exactly pinpoint - which I find fascinating and rather like. Your rhythm is great too, and you stick to it throughout the entire poem. This is awesome. Thanks so much for writing it! =)

have you read anything by Shirley Jackson?
"The Lottery", particularly.

your writing reminds me of hers, somewhat.
