Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia

A Poem by Shirley Wontas
"

Acrostic

"

Strange dreams blend with reality. A true Compliments toward rejection. Haunted by Irrational voices; Zoomed. Outrageously tortured. Presents Paranoid delusions, as well as Hallucinations. Then, consciousness; Run, seceded. Became Extremely dried. So Noticeable and rapid. Ironic, yet dramatic. A pure self-imposed isolation.

The dreadful schizophrenia.... a disease that is also known as being "crazy." But in a way, I'm curious as to wonder if schizophrenia is in fact a disease, or something more... something far more supernatural.... Well, that's just my opinion....
A wonderful write, enjoyed this piece.

Schizophrenia is a really scary thing. I watched a video in a psychology class about a machine that was developed to show cops an example of what schizophrenics see so they know how to deal with them better, and it was pretty terrifying. You did great on this piece.

I am a paranoid schizophrenic, and I just think you did an excellent job with this poem.

A short but powerful poem. I know a few people with schizophrenia, some very well. It has always been a mystery to me the exact nature and origins of this mental illness, but at the same time, I think almost everyone has a little bit. Your poem captures a certain split in the mind, from reality to unreality, back and forth. I liked "compliments toward rejection", “zoomed” and also the last line, “A pure self-imposed isolation”, even though I’m not sure that’s entirely true. Good job.

That's a good way to describe it to others who don't really understand. xo Winter

You mentioned "showing empathy." Without going into great detail, I've had just about the most experience one can have (outside of family possibly) dealing with a person that suffers from Schizophrenia, and I have to say it was the most devastating and mentally-exhausting experience of my life. Knowing of it, reading about or even seeing it briefly cannot begin to compare to being completely immersed in the various aspects of everything associated with it...
I thank you for writing and posting this strong-written and necessary piece.

No, truly, thank you
I've seen a paranoid schizophrenic in the mental health facility before; he was a reck. I laughed when I first saw him, but over time I came into grips with his conditions. I suffer from several psychological ailments myself, but no schizophrenia (thank God), so I know how it feels when the so called functioning normal folks don't comprehend the mental conditions, especially when they're family. And that is what attracted me into choosing this piece from your other works.

Schizophrenia is dire mental disease, and the chaos is the patient doesn't even realize that he's afflicted. Speaking of paranoia, OCD carries the same symptoms. You've done a great job describing the ailment and the exacerbations it manifests. Thank you for sharing Shirley.

Oh Rose..so sorry to hear that..
I'm thrilled to know the full form of that word. It's a nice way to let other know about it. You've well defined the meaning of the word. I got something new from here to learn. Thanks for sharing the piece here on the site with other to show your talent.
