Too BrightA Poem by Cloud ComposerOne day I’ll remove this urban hood, But not while I’m at this place since birth That’s too bright all the time And too harsh on my face. My skin is peeling away; Now no one recognizes me. The sun to the billboard signs: It’s like the melted candle’s flame to the moon at night. Oh, look at me In the shadows of this city. Hear me amongst the impatient monsters rushing through the streets. You’ll find that I am still alive Searching for survivors like me Until my eyes are blind From these lights all too bright. Yes, the lights are all too bright. They unnaturally call me from my sleep The second I fall in lovely dreams Because they won’t let me breathe, Won’t let me stray away from reality. I just want to take off this urban hood While my mind is still somewhat good. I just want to scream my name To a place that won’t forget me any day, But the city lights won’t let me, Won’t let me cry Or utter a single plead-ing, So I lie And pretend I’m also a civilian rushing, But inside, Underneath the urban hood that’s losing threads, I am waiting for a chance. I am ready to strike the night that imitates the light of life, But fails to do so because it is much too bright. The wind is calling me To a peaceful land where I can feel Alive and real. End. © 2016 Cloud Composer |
