A Drop of Kiss to My Lips

A Drop of Kiss to My Lips

A Poem by Cloud Composer
"

Simple daydreams can lead to such disappointment.

"

Today is a day when I daydream.

Today is a day that I need,

An ever perfect day.

You reach into your pocket,

Revealing a sort of ring.

Old looking and antique,

Yet it is what I seek.

You embrace me gingerly,

Saying that you love me.

This is where I really should be.

You slide that perfect ring into my finger,

As you smile so happily

At me, for me, for you.

You move closer to me,

Holding my face

So gently and so sweetly.

Your touch like a light water splash,

Fun and so very exciting,

Igniting a small sunset to my cheeks.

I close my eyes,

And you lean in for a kiss.

I see you so clearly,

But it was just the rain,

Playing a trick against me.

I finally realized it was just the rain,

Just the bittersweet and chilling rain

Giving me a drop of kiss to my lips.

End.

Such a sweet little poem has got me thinking it was so cute and thus when I realized that such a tragedy was befalling her instead, my heart dropped and I could almost feel the quick cold splash upon my lips, no warmth of the significant other present in her wake. This poem had imagery that felt real and an ending that will unexpectably alter the mood of the scene. Very well done.

Bravo! A work of art. I could sense the pain of loneliness in that last line, it echoed coldly within me. Until that very point I anticipated a kiss that never came. I applaud you for dashing my hopes in such a merciless poem. Thank you, I will await more of your works.
