What is Left

What is Left

A Poem by Colleen A

Your legacy is what remains after your story is written.
What is left when you lift the page after putting your story down with marker?
What bled through to the next page?
What can you make of it?
Did you write your story with enough vigor to immortalize it, even when the page has been lifted?

Very good question in the poem.
"Did you write your story with enough vigor to immortalize it, even when the page has been lifted?"
I believe we decide our legacy. If we lead with concern, kindness and love. We will leave souvenirs of a good life in our children. If not. A lonely death. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

A good invitation for writers to think about what it is they create. Why write? What is the intention? Did your vision actually make it to the page?

A story is nothing without questions, and it is the questions that you provide in this piece that makes an author an author and the blank page a world of impossible brilliance.

Philosophically deep and anyone who writes should read this and contemplate their own legacy and life for inspiration. Thank you for allowing us to read your work.

Thank you for the review!
A wonderful poem about the relationship between artists and their work. Very relatable, I've probably spent more time going back through old writing than actually writing the bloody stuff. Keep it up!
