Past, Forever, Lost

Past, Forever, Lost

A Poem by Berkley Conner Jr

Have you ever had to find you’re past

So Forgotten , lost piece by piece
You find old testaments in lost catacombs
Deciphering every last confession of you/re soul
Putting together the mystery in you’re mind
Bits fall into place like jigsaw pieces in a puzzle
Slowly revealing things destroyed
Is this a war zone blown apart?
No it’s the tragedies once faced
I find writings among math notes
No wonder I squeaked by in class
How could so much of my youth be lost
I was there but it was all taken away
Stripped away like the badges of a general
With what am I being charged?
For being so kind and loving?
Remaining faithful to the end?
But like war-torn ruins, little remains
Survivors running off with souvenirs
Wait come back I need those
Its too late as they fade away
I only regret not trying harder
Trying to keep what remains of my past
My last resort is to keep digging
Maybe I will find more….
