The Reaper

The Reaper

A Poem by Camroc

 Walk through the darkness
begin to hear the cries
soul of a mans likeness
here mans body lies
within depths of fire and brimstone
the shadows start to follow
loose and free they roam
spirits inside remain hollow
as the fire grows stronger
death is coming near
can't escape no longer
the reaper is who I fear
blood bleeds red from my veins
struck by a blade unexplained
as the wound deepens in my chest
pain unbearable none the less
stabbed by a razor sharp blade in the heart
doomed by the reaper from the start
my life was taken, not to be saved
as my body lies in the grave
my soul separates to take flight
driftlessly floating into the night
the reaper has come
through the depths of hell
another life shortened
another family hurt as well
so here I lie as the deceased
tombstone reads "rest in peace"

This reminds me of all the horror stories I have seen.
This is creepy, and yet the flow is so graceful. Affinity
