The Lion and the WildebeestA Story by *!!Cammie!!*This story shows that you should be patient. Patience may bring rewards in result to obtaining what you wanted in the first place.I pace between two acaicia trees, letting out my light grunt for hunger. I am the lion.
I have walked for miles to find this pond and I am relieved to see the glistening water. I easily kneel on the cracked ground and let the cool water dance on my tongue as my herd does as I do. I am the wildebeest.
I peek over the tall, beige grass and spot a small herd of wildebeest. I'm afraid my lionesses are off hunting for me, but I cannot stand to wait. I am the lion.
My herd begins to run. I am confused. I linger behind my herd, running swiftly and bounding across the bumpy texture of the ground. I am the wildebeest.
The herd has spotted me and has began to run. I notice a rather small wildebeest struggling to keep up with the herd, but is beginning to fall behind. I begin to run. I am the lion.
I have now understood why my herd fails to come back for me. I have slowed, my legs are beginning to tire, and I feel as if I have been printed on my side with the word PREY, for my hoof is caught in a small snake burrow. I am the wildebeest.
The small one has come to a stop. I can see through a small sliver of open space that this wildebeest in stuck in a hole. I approach. I am the lion.
I am sweating profusely, my eyes are stinging from the bright sun and my leg is becoming limp due to the loss of circulation from the hole. My herd is gone, and I can feel the lion's breath on my back. What's this? The lion has freed me from the hole! I shall give him a reward, I know where a fresh carcass is, and I could show this generous lion where it is. I begin to run, hoping he is following me. He is. I am the wildebeest.
Hehe. I have freed the wildebeest but little does he know what is coming for him. He's running away. I chase him. He gets a confused look as he turns his head to look behind him. I get closer and closer, I am right behind his tail. Suddenly he falls into a large rectangle shaped ditch, unable to get out. No, no, NO NO NO! I have fallen in as well. I have gotten my dinner and I will get more as well as soon as I return home. Wait, how do I get out? Oh no. I am the lion.
Silence arises out of my gaping mouth. I am shocked this lion has attacked me when I was s-s-so close to rewarding h-h-h-him. My leaving time has come. The wildebeest. © 2008 *!!Cammie!!* |
