Rekindled Flame

For a heart once lonely, which has found new love.

the songbirds sing their praises to the sun,
imploring its grace, begging to still see its shining
face, as the rainclouds dash in over the shining
brilliance, bringing a cold wind, chilling the earth,
showering the ground with its light droplets,
kissing the grass, and hugging the trees with the
sweet aromatic raindrops.

i sit at my desk, staring out the window, listening
to the music fill hy ears, flowing through itself,
singing sweet songs to my heart. the rain, i feel
comes not to cleanse the earth, but, rather, to cleanse
my heart of its pain, its agony, the lonliness so often
felt when i'm all alone at night wishing she was here
by my side, resting in my arms.

the flowers outside my window soak up the
revitalizing rain, as the wind breathes new life into
their blossoming heads, giving me new hope
for life and love, hope that i may one day hold
my one true love in my arms, forever happy, knowing
that she is mine, and i am hers, that the love shared
between the two of us is true as the north star.

a new song now plays in my head, not of nature, but
of an orchestra, and a band, the sound of the piano
dancing in my ears, singing to the violin, as it sings
and dances right back. the flute softly whispers its
sweet melody, and the cello breathes through. The horn
flaunts is bold voice, singing strongly, and slowly,
the music comes to a soft end.

my heart is put at ease and filled with new hope of love
knowing that such a thing can exist, knowing
that there are melodies such as this one, that preach
of love, that sing its story of hope and of joy.
my soul is aflame with a new passion. she is my passion.
her eyes are the reason i can see, her smile the reason for
mine, and her scent is of angels.
