Escape the Rain

Escape the Rain

A Poem by Cameron Berry

Were it these ashes,
smoldering to extinguish rain?
Or else what magnificent torch
might stifle the skies?

Coffee riddled teeth chatter
Grinding awe to mulch
As eyes draw upward
beholding the kaleidoscopic arch

Mother Earth fashions bow on daughter's locks
Unlocks the gate beholding my soul
Captivating my captor
and making jealous the rain
