Complicated Happiness

Complicated Happiness

A Poem by Cassandra

When being alive is so beautiful it hurts
The sharp edge of a crystal clear knife
Slicing through you
Not always a clean cut
Occasionally spewing
Blood
Intestines
Liam's silly laugh
My sweet boy
My most simple joy
and then you
My complicated happiness
Without it
I M stagnant
Suspended in this goo
That never seems to wash out of my hair
I just want you to love me like Darcy loves
Elizabeth
There.
I've said it aloud.
That is my dream
To be the voltage that races across the
Surface of the earth
So fast
We catch fire
And the world looks at us
Our children look at us
And they see what it truly means to be
Alive
