My Sol

My Sol

A Poem by Cassandra

For better or worse
you are like the sun to me.
A spinning, massive body

Essential
my skies brightest star
You burn
Scorch
fever my skin
And I
spinning all around you
so caught
in the force of your pull
am but the most insignificant fragment
the heated rock
within a comets tail
Being near you
the torridity
of your molten heat
leaves the inches of my tender flesh

Exposed

stripped bare
scrubbed raw
and my heart a thick pool
flowing, viscous
like melted chocolate
or liquid gold
Every day I wake up
look for you
and at night I dream about your face
even as your piercing light
ultraviolet
partially blinds
and burns away
pieces of my cornea
my little cells

I don't mind

After all

You are my sun

My sol
