Star in the Sky

A set of lyrics I wrote in response to hearing news from a close friend of mine

V1: You were there for a while, like stars in the night sky
Giving light, shining bright, and paving the way. But in the morning you're gone, unseen in the day, unknown to us all, to be seen again at nightfall.

C: But like a star, the light soon dies
I must observe from afar, as I gently cry
I appreciate the light, but I couldn't get enough
Baby you were my star in the sky, but now you leave me

V2: I know you must leave, but it deeply troubles me.
Known as the unseen, you appear only momentarily!
I got to know you, as you did me
I thought that we could last eternally

Transition: You leave me now! As dawn arrives. I know you love me, which brings tears to my eyes. Come back to me and stay here
Please never leave me

V3: I know you must leave, although it truly saddens me
But I know you'll return, bringing the day to a complete
Leaving is a part of life
Although it brings strife
For night will show again, and the stars will arise from the deep end
