Talk to me

Talk to me

A Poem by Marina

Take down the wall with a smile,
before even placing two bricks,
you say, that's what I did
but did I really,
with intentions pure?

Was what was on my mind,
your well-being, and that alone?
Or was I merely selfish,
getting on your good side,
that place I yearn so strongly for.

And then after those words of wisdom,
a pseudo intellect exchange
we seem to get it,
do we get it?
I guess, it's cheesy enough.

That cliche, the never ending cycle,
where we discuss life and it's quirks,
it's endless ability to change.
When we agree to not understand it,
and with that believe we understand it all.

When we reach the same level,
of clear-mindedness,
the same level
of blatant expression
with obvious shame in the unsaid

Then when we're scared the most
both withholding,
guessing, but denying,
when it so clearly shows
that we're both in the know

The expected relief,
when a line slips from our lips
And much to our delight,
caught and received,
then placed in a locker.

And the tension stays,
like electricity in the air
unable to make up our mind
because where are we headed,
anyway?

Then would it scare you,
if I were to say,
the things that run through your mind,
which we so stubbornly keep
obviously hidden

In the lingering aftertaste,
of a 'see you tomorrow'
that functions both as a promise,
and an exchange of speaking smiles,
my thoughts hold on to you.

o__O

Why does this not have more reviews and views?

The entire thing reminds me of unspoken feelings and words that pass between two people that know each other very well, sort of detailing the plethora of between-the-line meanings that can come with a few, simple words.

Anyway, last stanza was my favorite. Great stuff.
