Bridges of Air

Bridges of Air

A Poem by Marina

Building bridges from here to there
Placing single stones with single steps
Clench my fists to feign my grasp
Reaching for air to build the bridge again

The air beneath my feet is thin
Where my mind is none but thick
Watch the water slowly trickle
The river is wild, my heart quite fickle

Cross the water on fields of sky
Belief upholds the confidence of mine
Steps on solid faith put my feet down softly
Keep me away from the depths beneath me

Oh when will reality hit me
When reality hits me
I'll plummet and fall
The stones all placed wrong

With air beneath my feet I try
To cross my bridges made of lies
The end is always within reach
When but a mirage is my destiny
