But She Was Scared

But She Was Scared

A Poem by Athena Manolopoulos
"

Just some observations.

"

Born with a divine beauty
She was scared
And tore it down
Like a flower from the wall
And crushed the petals
Between her fingers
Determined to destroy what she had
Attempting to build up what she didn't
What heavy irony layed on her shoulders
Making every passing day
More and more difficult
As she found more and more reasons
Not to be

'Born with a divine beauty

And tore it down'

That is such a strong opening for a poem. Loved it in all its self-destructive glory. NH
