deer me...

deer me...

A Poem by callie...

                        600 feet per minute

speed at which rain falls....

fill the dam until you shatter the walls

remembered resolve a drop too late

crouch beneath my desktop and wait....

but no state can escape an earthquake.

the damage collateral and i'm already broke this time...

hiding behind these clean slates that i fake

cracks only grow deeper the longer they climb.

        wading through dismayed and betrayed

familiar we are, as shell-shock never fades.

we're all doomed by cell memory....

whether it's his or her story.

   mine's etched in your bedposts

      scorched in my skin

 drawn by your ghosts

                       chalked up your win.....

    fleeting bound of determination

          attempts dissolve under illumination.

in the streetlights silent steady dimming

                                the weight of water....

tread with dread and i'm swimming...

               can't float.....can't sink....

   numb all thoughts to think

                                 hoodwinked

and i'm still frozen in your headlights...

           blinded by the brights...

I loved this ..I loved that you used the word hoodwinked and it was not at all out of place..almost a rap like quality.. intelligent..
