Live Again

I am ready to live again. 

I am ready to lend my cheeks to the lips of the wind

To be kissed thoroughly, 

And to be in love once again. 

I am ready to throw away all doubts and cautions, 

All my worries and all my thoughts, 

To live my life fully;

Like a child learning to walk, 

I am ready to take the first step

Towards the path to a new world.

I thought my life had ended

When the shadows that creep

Within the cracks of my heart told me, 

"This is not what you want"

And took my life away, 

Until I had nothing left. 

I am ready to light the fire 

That had long died within my soul 

And rekindle the passion that had been blown away, 

As the last smoke from the candlewick of my youth

Evaporated into nothingness.

I am ready to live, 

To breathe, 

To see, 

And to experience once again

All the things that the world has to offer

As I reopen my eyes to the blinding newness of the light.

And so like the rising and the setting of the sun, 

I have lived and I have died- 

But now I am finally living once again.
