The Enemy in the nightA Poem by Carissa MarieYou, who fills this endless void, With the whispers of your voice; You, who visits me frequently, As thousand suns, And thousand moons Have come and passed- You appear and disappear As seasons change, And the moments pass; You, who comes to me With the mask of a friend, You cling to me And crush me, Leaving me breathless- Gasping for air; You seek me from time to time, Keeping me company, And yet I know not of your name, Nor your face, But your scent. A sweet-smelling scent, That leaves a foul taste in my mouth, And I know it's you. Because you who comes to me, Within the shadows of the light, It's only you who has the scent- Of the enemy in the night.
