Barefooted dreamsA Poem by Carissa MarieI trudge along the sands of time, Hoping to find a memory lost, And a second chance. The scorching heat of the sun Burns through the soles of my feet, But the callouses acquired from those Woeful years protects me. I long to quench my thirst - Not of water; But of regrets I have tried to forget. I have been searching for the well of your love, Deep enough to fill my soul Plagued with longing of your return. If I shout to the stars In the middle of this barren desert of the past, Who would shout back at me? A mere echo of your shadow would suffice To help this broken excuse of a man. If only the genie from the lamp Could grant my wishes, Instead of letting me trudge along This forsaken path - I hope to walk with you. We'd leave our footprints With these calloused feet, To forgotten worries and Barefooted dreams in the sand.
