Drill #7 (Buried in the ruins)A Poem by Carissa MarieShe stands over the mountaintop, Above the clouds of mist, Overlooking the world that was once As majestic as the walls which now crumbles Beneath her feet. The gods had long gone, Along with history that has never been written. Glittering crystals And pristine marbles That used to be the pillars of her kingdom, Have been defiled, Looted by thieves Who had coveted its beauty. From the rubble and remains Of one of the castle's towers, A fading picture of a smiling girl stands out- Revealing a life once lived, And has left. For so long she had wanted to come back, To live within the comforts of her glorious monument. She longed to feel the weightlessness of the air, To gaze at the beauty of the world While enjoying the company of silence- But she could not forget. She had not forgotten about the storm That wrecked her home, And buried her to the ground. The whipping winds that not even her strong pillars Could withstand. She had not forgotten the bitter story That the poets ought to write- Her colorful life, Washed away by the onslaught of rains. She knows that The storm had long passed- But she had been a ruin- And she had not forgot.
