Poetry Dump #5 (Not all angels have wings)

Poetry Dump #5 (Not all angels have wings)

A Poem by Carissa Marie

Not all angels have wings
Sometimes they wear an over-sized shirts
that refuses to cling to their body
that has lost the ability to withstand the softness of cotton.
Sometimes they have hauntingly big eyes
that fills their tiny faces,
Looking more like a skull instead of a face.
You can see them wandering the roads,
Knocking in the windows of your cars,
Asking for whatever you can give.
They shiver in the streets,
Outside the doors of your favorite restaurant,
As the rain pours down their fragile bodies,
That had started to rot while they are still breathing.
 They roam around your homes,
Peeping through your windows,
Wishing they could have as much comfort as you were having.
They are the forgotten ones,
Who wear the biggest smiles
Despite their fortune.

These angels have no wings,
But it doesn't mean they couldn't fly.

The truth of the world can be so depressing to some that they refuse to look and that is one of humanities biggest problems. You bring to light such desperate and heart breaking issues but put a beautiful, uplifting spin on it. Amazing. Most often the poor are the happiest, the truly happy I mean, they know gratitude, love and generosity because they embody it. Great piece!

Thank you for your kind words and for reading. :)
Beautiful, simply beautiful. All those potential angels can decide your future angel status. Noticing them, helping them, speaking to them like equals, it all helps. We are all in this together and should help in any way we can.

That's true. It's sad when someone thinks they're better than others just because they are more well.. read more
