Venus

Venus

A Poem by Carissa Marie

Beautiful is her heart of passion,
Of which I am condemned.
Fiery tongues of lies and illusions,
To my fate, I have descend.
She burns as my promises turned to ashes,
And my kisses turned to dust.
Everlasting love devoid of grudges,
Even as I differ love from lust.
Her innocence I have tampered,
So I bury my face in shame.
Even then, her soul I've not angered,
Though I've set her whole aflame.
I gave her fire, and left her empty,
But still her heart is clear and pure.
She is a Venus, and I'm not worthy,
So my love I must obscure.

Still here I am, admiring Venus -
Who was so near but now so far.
And I know my crimes are heinous,
But I can't live to be apart.
