Catching stars

Catching stars

A Poem by Carissa Marie

By the balcony of tranquility,
We sat under the stars and watched;
We watched the time as it passed.
Like a speeding train,
Rushing towards its destination.
Or my heartbeat,
As it synchronizes its beat with yours.
And like the slow-moving tempo
Of dancers making love,
Time was moving fast,
And yet it seemed to last.
Like fireworks lighting up the skies,
We tried catching the stars as it fell.
But each and every one passed through our hands-
Wasted moments;
We both seemed to comprehend.
It was as if the stars
Were in connivance with fate.
Passing through our eyes,
And suddenly it drifts.
---

Our time wasn't enough,
For both of us to stay,
But as long as were catching stars
And chasing fate,
I know our hearts
Will always find a way.
