Point of view

A Poem by Carissa Marie

You smiled your carefree smile,
The one that reaches your eyes.
A long time had passed,
Since that smile I saw last.
How happy you looked,
As you laugh silently.
You reach out to fix a lock of hair,
A special gesture,
That would've melted my heart.
Your eyes full of love,
As mine were full of longing.
I almost forgot that look,
That look that says,
'Everything's gonna be okay'.
With a subtle reluctance,
You took a step forward
Leaning for a kiss.

You gazed down and smiled into her eyes,
But I had already gone my way.

The title of this poem definitely fit this poem well. Telling what you see in first person perspective. I enjoyed the read Carissa :)
