A spur in time

A spur in time

A Poem by Carissa Marie

Two people,
Sitting side by side.
No words uttered,
No movements made.
Both trying to sense and feel
The deafening silence in the air.
Slowly, she started to move.
Inch by inch
Until he's within reach.
First, a finger
And then another.
Til her hand's entwined with his.
They sat like this for a long time.
Relishing,
Absorbing,
Feeling,
A special moment
Of a spur in time.
But as slowly as their hands interweaved,
One by one,
First, a finger
And then another.
The bond is broken
And reality awakes.

Thank you. ;)
Such a lovely poem about such a simply gesture-holding someone's hand. This was wonderful.

Thank you. :)
A real scene. Softness here -- albeit an honest softness. A delicate poem that searches the tenuous atmosphere between persons. Excellent -- especially in its palpable understatement. David
