Deliver my heart

Deliver my heart

A Poem by Carissa Marie

I seal my heart away
And put it in a letter.
I sign it with a kiss
And send it through the mail.
Oh Mr. Mailman,
Will you give him all my love?
Please deliver it to his doorstep.
Make sure he receives it.
I hope he opens it carefully
And feel my heart
Beating,
Longing,
For his touch.
For his love.
I hope he sees
How much I miss him.
How I regret ever saying goodbye.

But I had to do it.
I had to cut all our ties.
No matter how much it hurts.
I know it was the right thing
For both of us.
I had to hurt myself
To keep from hurting you.
Ours was a doomed love from the start
And it is better for us to be apart.
