My Dove, My Love

My Dove, My Love

A Poem by Caleb Benton

I try so hard to hide how I feel,

But this feeling is far too real,

No matter where I go, no matter what I do,

My mind always wanders right back to you.

Back to a time when I was so glad,

Before my heart became iron-clad,

Back before my senses were numb,

How could I have been so dumb?!

I was so dumb, and I was so blind,

Now these damn memories always remind,

Of how I lost my beloved dove,

That sweet dove, my one true love.

Always had a soft spot for poems that have a rhyme scale, probably because I haven't the gift for it. It's well written and quite the love poem.

Beautiful little testimony to love...I dig it.

I like it baby brother. A lot actually. It's shortened though--maybe you could add more later, like an added chaper-- only the writer's over that dove and onto something new...I can see it as a progressive piece.

Does that make sense?

Much love!

It was sweet, like a song. I loved it. It's nice reading pieces like this because it reveals to the reader just how human other people are in feeling regret. The repetition helped the word flow as well as reflected the message more thoroughly. An excellent piece!
