A Trip to the HeartA Poem by CaitlinI had to write this for science class, so its not that great.Once upon a time, In a land close to heart, 3 cardiovascular friends, On a mission, they were about to embark. They started in the atrium, On the right side. Where they were sent by a vein, And the plasma tide. After the atrium, To the ventricle they went, An artery had pumped them. To the lungs, a time well spent. Inside the lungs, The 3 friends became oxygen rich, When out of the blue a cut appeared, And our platelet friend was needed to stitch. The platelet raced off, And the others exchanged gasses, They traded CO2, For hemoglobin attachments. While the platelet uses fibrin, To help make a scab, The red and white blood cells, Continue in a systemic circulation cab. They pass through capillaries, Throughout the rest of their trip, They drop off oxygen to every cell, And go back through the veins with a zip. After returning to the heart, The had realized what they had done, They went on an important journey, And had a bit of fun. The left ventricle and atrium, Were fun inside the heart, The arteries were thrilling, But Pulmonary Circulation was the best part. All in all, The friends had a good time, They delivered what was needed, All within a rhyme. © 2010 CaitlinReviews
